Hello from Appleton Wisconsin!! Home of the drunkest city in America - most bars per capita - how exciting. After the long transfer drives to central Wisconsin I met my cute companions, Sister Armstrong and Sister Pemberton! Appleton is so much more humid than my last area, and has so many more mosquitos and bugs. We had to do a car fast the last couple days of this month since we have a big area and were out of miles by the time I got here, so hours of lots of walking in 80 degree weather, with 100% humidity, means a lot of dehydration, sunburns, and sweat. I have never been so grateful for a mission with cars haha. I got a bug bite the size of a golf ball on my ankle, so that's fun.
We have been finding all week, and we met some awesome people! I love my new zone already, they're fun and hilarious. This week has been one of the hardest of my mission so far, since my first transfer was so short and I'm still getting used to the mission and missionary-work. I've already had 4 companions and it's hard being misunderstood and having to conform to so many different personalities in only a couple months. But I know that prayer and service will make all the difference! We met a man who lost his wife last year and he really wants to come back to church and get back to the temple! We don't get fed much in Appleton, but we did have dinner with a Hispanic woman, and I can say the Hispanic food in Appleton is a bit better than in the Southern areas haha. We went to a huge farmers market on Saturday that covered a few long streets, and we were able to talk to a lot of people there! We taught an awesome lesson about the Book of Mormon, and we had lunch with another returning member! We watered plants at an elderly members home, and were able to meet a few of the local members as well. So it has been a long but productive week haha.
Our new mission president came last weekend! So we will get to meet him later this week! I've only heard amazing things about him, so we are all super excited!
Some of the pictures are from my last week in Waukesha mixed and the first 2 pictures are of my first week in Appleton. But I'm excited to be a missionary at this time! I hope you all are having so much fun and seeing many miracles. I recently read about the Sons of Mosiah in the Book of Mormon and I love how much it teaches me about having faith even during the times when nothing seems to be progressing. It's so important to never lose hope and diligence because we want to be as close to our Heavenly Father and the Holy Ghost as we possibly can, at all times! So much peace, help, protection, and comfort comes from obeying even the simplest of things. I love hearing from all of you! If there is anything I can do for anyone, or any random updates even, I'd love to hear from anyone and everyone. I hope this next week is everything you all need to keep you strong and positive.
Love,
Your favorite,
Sister Davis
