Hellooo Wisconsin

May 27, 2019

Hello from Waukesha Wisconsin! Home of the electric guitar, flat land, heat and rain! Wisconsin is green and beautiful! It's pretty much Idaho weather and hot and cold off and on but I like it. I'm in a trio companionship so it's a party haha. We volunteer at some fun places throughout the week so it's awesome to get to know new people! One of my companions had surgery over the weekend so we can't do as much right now - but we play lots of bananagrams in our free time haha. I have been able to study and learn so much, I love the scriptures!
We have been able to meet some amazing people! One lady, Dee,  has been meeting with missionaries for 8 years! One of the doctors we met knows a lot about our church and was super kind and great to get to know. We met a very passionate plant lady, Barb - I wish I knew the first thing about plants. And we met Otis, who thought it was so cool that we can't really use the internet haha. Send your prayers for each of them!
The Wisconsin accent is real! Not everyone has it, but when they do, it is kind of hard to understand haha. Their lingo is similar to Australia, so at least I know what they're talking about haha.
I'm excited to get out and serve and teach! If anyone needs anything, please let me know!

Anderson, Goodbyes, and Oobedience (yes with 2 o's)

May 20, 2019

First off - Elder Andersen came to the MTC this last week for our devotional! Right when he entered the room and we all stood, the Spirit poured in and testified that he is a true apostle of God!! It was the most sure thing I've ever felt. Sister and Elder Andersen both gave devotionals that were spiritually lead and so moving! They spoke on repentance and stressed how important it is to be repenting daily.
The main theme of the week, and the MTC, seems to always be obedience - 'obedience brings blessings and exact obedience brings miracles'. I know as we put all of our faith in Heavenly Father, our obedience is blessed so much!
Sister Rasmussen and I taught many people this week and they are the greatest moments as we become friends with all those we teach! I can see myself improving so much in all aspects and my weaknesses are becoming so much stronger. I love this work and the Spirit that this Gospel brings!
The Elders in our district almost burned their room down with waterproof matches, luckily nothing happened haha. I have made so many crazy memories here with the people I love, from always quoting Robin Williams and The Emperor's New Groove, to getting excited when we see babies and food haha. I have grown so close to my district and I can't wait for our road trip when we're all home. They are the strongest and most genuine people I've ever met.
For our last Sunday here we all sang Nearer My God To Thee in English and in Tongan, and it was the most amazing Spirit as we sang our testimonies in another language! I love the MTC with all my heart and all the amazing teachers and people here! There is no place I'd rather be, and I'm so excited to head to Wisconsin tomorrow!
I hope you all have a great week, ask me anything you'd like:)
Love, Sister Davis

- quote of the week is a French poem about Christ that Holland shared in a devotional a while ago:

' "Come to the edge" He said,
"We can't, we're afraid!" they responded.
"Come to the edge" He said,
" We can't, we will fall!" they responded."Come to the edge" He said,
And so they came.
And He pushed them.
And they flew.'

Week 2 and a Broken Elevator

May 14, 2019
My second week in the MTC has been nothing short of AMAZING! So many devotionals, choir practices and performances, and memories galore. I have strengthened my weaknesses so much this past week, and it's all due to the most amazing MTC teachers and the Holy Ghost! I am so happy that I chose to serve a mission! I can't see myself anywhere else, experiencing anymore amount of genuine love and happiness! My district is all some of my best friends, and we are so sad to be going to 2 different missions next week! This morning we went to the Provo Temple, as usual on our p-day, and as we were going through the parking lot almost there, a man calls out to us and has huge packets full of Italian family names to be taken through the temple! It was so random and a little sketchy haha, but we were all so happy to take names through for him! They were so fun to say too haha. He even let us keep the name cards so that we can always remember those random names we were given in front of the temple. So cool!
The MTC choir sang at the Tuesday devotional here, and the song was so amazing and powerful! We sounded like angels directly from Heaven! I have such a love and testimony for music! Also, I have been SO blessed to be able to meet missionaries here that know some of my best friends in Australia! It's so crazy! There aren't any coincidences here ladies and gentlemen. I have become so close with my roomates and all the Elders and Sisters in my zone! I seriously couldn't be more blessed with the people around me here!

So - this weeks exciting story starts with an elder from a farm in Idaho, who likes to open the elevator doors and watch the floors go by. It went just fine the first time he showed us, then the next day, we were in the elevator with one of our MTC teachers, Brother Biddulph, and he decides to show our teacher, and the elevator immediately drops a floor and an alarm goes off - my teacher screams and is panicking and pries open the doors and luckily we were on a floor haha. So it all turned out fine but everyone was a bit shaken up. I thought it was a really fun experience! I mean obviously dumb, but we lived so it was exciting!

My MTC teachers are AMAZING! They are so spiritual, passionate, knowledgeable, kind, passionate, patient, and fun! We race, have lessons outside, and learn about the most amazing thing - this Gospel! One of my teachers, Brother Martin, turned out to be my 5th cousin! haha so random but I think it's pretty cool! I love and appreciate my teacher so much. They are all of our district's best friends. Tonight we have another devotional and were hinted that one of the General Authorities is coming to be the main speaker! Yay!! I'm so excited to hear their words.

One of the TRC investigators that we are teaching here accepted the commitment to be baptized and work towards that! She's amazing! I love all of the people we get to teach and I love teaching with the spirit and sharing my knowledge and testimony!

Most importantly, happy Mothers Day to all of the mother-figures in our lives!! I am so grateful for the beautiful, fun, patient light my mother is! Yay for people who love us unconditionally!! Have a WONDERFUL week and pray often:)

Hellooo MTC Week 1

May 7, 2019

First things first, I have learned so so much in the MTC already, this Gospel is seriously amazing! The MTC is SO fun you guys!! The people are the most generous and hilarious people. We have devotionals all the time which is amazing and so uplifting! My district is all West Coast people lol. My branch is so much fun! And there is a Tongan and Samoan which is awesome haha. There are so many Polynesians here which makes me miss Australia SO much. Last night a huge group of Poly Elders walked by and started doing the haka. Kenneth Cope came and did a singing devotional which was so beautiful! I love studying this Gospel all day everyyy day and having so many amazing classes with even better teachers!
My roommates are the funniest girls I've ever met - and our district is seriously amazing and full of the best testimonies! We have started teaching our TRC investigators this week and the spirit is miraculous and so amazing! I love sharing the Gospel and my testimony of the Book of Mormon! Teaching with the Spirit is seriously amazing to witness and be a part of. So cool.
